3. Your call might end there, but if you'd like, you can mention that you believe it is critical that the Senate stands up for American consumers, not the big banks and financial institutions that got us into this mess with their reckless behavior.
4. Since both of your senators have key votes, please call 1-800-335-6946 a second time to get connected to your other senator's office. Once again enter your zip code, then press "2" to be connected with your second senator.

2. Tell the staff person who answers the phone where you are calling from, and that you strongly urge your senator to vote YES on the financial reform bill.
3. Your call might end there, but if you'd like, you can mention that you believe it is critical that the Senate stands up for American consumers, not the big banks and financial institutions that got us into this mess with their reckless behavior.
4. Since both of your senators have key votes, please call 1-800-335-6946 a second time to get connected to your other senator's office. Once again enter your zip code, then press "2" to be connected with your second senator.
5. After you're done, click here to let us know you called. This step is important, so please don’t skip it!

As President Obama and the White House enter the final stretch to pass comprehensive health care reform, they are going into over drive to get the true facts out to the American people amid the confusion, misinformation, falsehoods, and smoke screens currently being spread by the Republicans.

Although politicians, conservatives, and talk show hosts have somewhat backed away from throwing “death panel” rhetoric around, there is still plenty of misleading statements being spread by the GOP.

In response the White House has launched a week long campaign to “get the word out” to every day Americans, who want to know the truth about health care reform, what it means to them and their families, and how it will impact their future.

Americans are tired of partisan politics.

Here is a fact sheet from the first phase of the White House health care reform information campaign:

UNDER THE PRESIDENT'S PLAN FOR REFORM:

• If you have health insurance through your employer and you like your plan, you can keep it

• If you're a small business owner, you'll receive new tax credits that make it easier for you to provide coverage for employees if you choose to do so

• If you have Medicare, the President's plan guarantees that your benefits will not be cut, and the Medicare Trust Fund will be extended for more than 9 years

• If you're uninsured, you could receive a tax credit to help pay for coverage if needed — part of the largest middle class tax cut for health care in history

• Even if you currently have health insurance, there will be new protections from insurance company abuses, and tax credits will make coverage more affordable

THE PRESIDENT'S PLAN GUARANTEES THAT:

• You will never be denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions

• You will never again be hit with arbitrary health insurance premium hikes

IF WE DO NOT PASS HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM:

*Up to 17 million more people will be uninsured by 2019 than today.

*The average family's health care costs will nearly double by 2020, from $13,000 to $24,000 — meaning they'll be paying a quarter of their income toward health care costs.

*Insurers can continue the massive and arbitrary premium rate increases we've heard about recently — such as Anthem Blue Cross raising rates for customers in California by nearly 40%, and rates in Illinois going up by as much as 60%.

*As many as 275,000 people could die prematurely over the next 10 years because they don't have health insurance.

*Health care costs will take up a staggering amount of our national budget. In 1960, it was 5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), last year it was 17 percent. Costs will reach 21 percent of our economy by 2020 if we fail to act.

*Rapidly rising costs will make it harder for employers — particularly small businesses — to provide quality health insurance to employees, leading many to drop coverage or shift to plans that cover less.

*Even those who have insurance today will be less secure, and more likely to lose coverage if they switch jobs or lose their job due to rising costs on the individual market or being denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition.

I am really liking the new direction President Obama is taking on the health care debate. He spent too much time trying to get the Republicans on board and giving them every chance to be grown-ups in getting this monstrocity called "healt care reform" done once and for all.

In the current economy, people need this more than ever. I say shame on the self-serving GOP and all their talking head puppets for doing every thing possible to rail road something Americans desperately need.

As the President has made clear, Americans deserve a final up-or-down vote on health reform. And the House is now expected to hold its final vote as soon as one week from today.

As we speak, insurance-industry lobbyists are gathering at the D.C. Ritz-Carlton to stage a last-minute blitz to block reform -- even as they jack up premiums by as much as 60% for small businesses and families across the country.

So starting today, we're launching an unprecedented week-long campaign sprint -- our "Final March for Reform." Each day until the vote, we'll feature a powerful new way for OFA supporters to speak out in our communities and weigh in directly with Congress.

Today, we'll start by spreading the facts about reform in our communities. Smears and falsehoods have clouded this debate -- Congress must understand that if they pass reform, their constituents will know the truth about what we've finally achieved. Click here to begin.

Last Thursday's first-of-its-kind summit capped off a debate that has lasted nearly a year. Every idea has now been put on the table. Every argument has been made. Both parties agree that the status quo is unacceptable and gets more dire each day. Today, I want to state as clearly and forcefully as I know how: Now is the time to make a decision about the future of health care in America.

The final proposal I've put forward draws on the best ideas from all sides, including several put forward by Republicans at last week's summit. It will put Americans in charge of their own health care, ensuring that neither government nor insurance company bureaucrats can ration, deny, or put out of financial reach the care our families need and deserve.

I strongly believe that Congress now owes the American people a final vote on health care reform. Reform has already passed the House with bipartisan support and the Senate with a super-majority of sixty votes. Now it deserves the same kind of up-or-down vote that has been routinely used and has passed such landmark measures as welfare reform and both Bush tax cuts.

Earlier today, I asked leaders in both houses of Congress to finish their work and schedule a vote in the next few weeks. From now until then, I will do everything in my power to make the case for reform. And now, I'm asking you, the members of the Organizing for America community, to raise your voice and do the same.

The final march for reform has begun, and your participation is crucial. Please commit to join with me to take reform across the finish line.

Essentially, my proposal would change three things about the current health care system:

First, it would protect all Americans from the worst practices of insurance companies. Never again will the mother with breast cancer have her coverage revoked, see her premiums arbitrarily raised, or be forced to live in fear that a pre-existing condition will bar her from future coverage.

Second, my proposal would give individuals and small businesses the same choice of private health insurance that members of Congress get for themselves. And my proposal says that if you still can't afford the insurance in this new marketplace, we will offer you tax credits based on your income -- tax credits that add up to the largest middle class tax cut for health care in history.

Finally, my proposal would bring down the cost of health care for everyone -- families, businesses, and the federal government -- and bring down our deficit by as much as $1 trillion over the next two decades. These savings mean businesses small and large will finally be freed up to create jobs and increase wages. With costs currently skyrocketing, reform is vital to remaining economically strong in the years and decades to come.

Last Thursday's first-of-its-kind summit capped off a debate that has lasted nearly a year. Every idea has now been put on the table. Every argument has been made. Both parties agree that the status quo is unacceptable and gets more dire each day. Today, I want to state as clearly and forcefully as I know how: Now is the time to make a decision about the future of health care in America.

The final proposal I've put forward draws on the best ideas from all sides, including several put forward by Republicans at last week's summit. It will put Americans in charge of their own health care, ensuring that neither government nor insurance company bureaucrats can ration, deny, or put out of financial reach the care our families need and deserve.

I strongly believe that Congress now owes the American people a final vote on health care reform. Reform has already passed the House with bipartisan support and the Senate with a super-majority of sixty votes. Is there a way to convince people that your health care bill is really in there best interest; i know Mr President you love your country. as much as you love your wife and children and i feel the same way even thought my children are grown up and live lives of there own now. Some how we haven't doone a very good job selling health care reform to the people showing them that this bill won't bankrupt us and it isn't a socialist scam to over throw the princles of the country we need to win the hearts and minds of the people that we are trying to help; or this health care bill will be your Waterloo Mr President . show them that the republican plans have no substance behind them or teeth to enforce there suggestion on Insurance companies or employers who dump health care because it hurt there bottom line; and the insurance companies that raise there rates so they can put a herd of lobbist up on capital hill to make sure that the statis queo is protected. kinda like trying to enact financial reform they won't go for it because there lobbist put momey into there reelections campains so they won't cut there own thoats by enacting reform. it against there best interest . Some people do drink ans some do smoke ciggeretts cigars or chew tabaco; the best way to combat this is to teach our children at a very early age how smoking and drinking can hurt you.and add on to that every year in school; and maybe kid will chooce not to smoke or dink as adults we can't force them not to drink or smoke as long as it is leagle to do so all we can hope to do EDUCATE THEM and hope for the best.beyhond that.but you can't single out a group of people like they wanta do it not fair; it kinda like saying being a republican is risky because there head is only used as a hat rack and nothing else. get the point .
